Pros

Loved my professional colleagues. All excellent, committed, and driven teachers! Supportive school leadership. I had a warm and personal connection with office staff and administration. As a private school, small class size and in general lovely, generous, and fun students. I really enjoyed working with these great kids.

Cons

Compared to public school teachers and staff, pay and benefits are not as good. (By quite a significant margin.) Confusion from the corporate level (a.k.a. Spring Education Group) related to contracts, teacher obligation, pay scale, and responsibilities. Teachers in Washington were on a 10-month contract, which then switched to a 12-month. Except at the same time they changed the so-called contract to an "at-will" employee, which means when I ended my job there I was not paid through the summer as expected with a 12-month contract implication. And only got half of a final paycheck... In the end, Spring is a for-profit company. The individual schools may be great places to work - mine was! But you are making money for a corporation, and they won't let you forget it. If you're lucky and have a great school admin team, as I did, that might make up for it. But you'll end up on the losing side of any contract or payment situations that come from above.

Pros

Spring Education Group sets you up for success in your job as an Enrollment Director at your school. Professional development, weekly team huddles, and even meeting together as part of a regional team helps you see the bigger picture and helps you feel very supported every step of the way.

Cons

Sometimes mistakes can happen in fast paced environments. Spring Education Group is quick to seek to understand any and all mistakes however and they are eager to listen on how to help you improve your school, your job, and they consistently provide a very supportive team environment.

Pros

Some of my teachers were fabulous. I loved hanging out with the babies and some of the primary children. School had beautiful Montessori works.

Cons

The principal in the Montessori Academy brand is expected to take full accountability and ownership of the campus without any authority to do so. I was brought into a struggling Campos with the instruction that I needed to build culture to reduce staff turnover. Unfortunately, the staff turnover is due to chronic understaffing, one sided toxic, anonymous HR reports, teachers frustrated with zero prep time and lack of support because the admin team was usually in ratio. Huge pressure to boost enrollment when we didn’t even have enough teachers for the students we had. Mixed messages from corporate from week to week. Our Campos was built without functioning heat. Our full sun exposure playground had zero shade and no play structure. Corporate was unwilling to spend money to improve our playground. Do your research and understand that Spring Education Group is owned by Chinese venture capitalists who are trying to apply the same strategies they use to manage a portfolio of self storage facilities to extract profit per square foot from these campuses. I received communication multiple times per week, emphasizing the need to boost enrollment and never once had someone asked me how my students and staff were feeling. HR department is only there to protect Spring Education Group. They have no interest in researching what is true or not true… HR is not there to protect employees. It’s there to protect corporate.
