I was recently terminated from Sports Clips after requesting time off for Thanksgiving six weeks in advance, with full communication that I would be out of town with family. Despite this, I was still scheduled for shifts on days my manager knew I would be unavailable, creating a preventable and unnecessary situation.
There were no prior warnings, write-ups, or documented performance concerns leading up to my termination. I believe this reflects a serious lack of leadership, fair scheduling practices, and respect for employee communication.
A workplace should not punish staff for planning ahead or prioritizing family when notice is given well in advance. I sincerely hope this location reevaluates how it supports and schedules its team. It's no wonder why this location struggles to get and maintain staff.
This post serves as a warning. Employees and clients alike deserve better.
