We’re really sorry to hear that you look back negatively on your time at Sphere and have tried to respond to your individual points as best we can.
“It is sold as a great place for uni grads however they all leave or are fired”
We feel that the positive reviews from our existing employees, most of whom joined us as graduates, answers this comment.
“Hours: hours are 8.30-6.30 with a half an hour lunch, you will then be expected to stay and if you leave at 6.30 it will come with judgement”
We aim to give employees as much flexibility as possible and over the last few years we have been focusing on allowing people to manage their own time. We are sorry if you felt an obligation to stay late and would like to reassure you that the management team are committed to our flexible hours policy. We prefer to measure performance on output, not number of hours worked. As long as contracted hours are met, we want colleagues to be able to flex when they start and finish their day.
“Salary: £18,000-£22,000, no salary reviews”
Our salary is highly competitive in the industry and the suggestion that there are no reviews, with respect, is simply untrue. The senior management team look at this regularly.
“Culture: no one wants to be there, very high staff firing rate, people leave and are also fired. Absolutely no culture or environment”
We’re sorry that you felt like this and would like to re-emphasise our first comment highlighting that we have a lot of long standing employees who feel very positively about working for Sphere Group.
“Progression: no one got promoted in the time I worked there as the targets are unattainable…”
This was possibly circumstantial as, naturally, people progress at different rates and we have actually seen staff promotions in the last few weeks.
“…you have to give you first £7k to the company every quarter and since the company struggles to get any clients you barely make the first fee of the quarter”
Our client base and numerous testimonials would demonstrate otherwise here and to suggest that the company doesn’t get any clients is simply untrue. We have a market leading commission structure and our threshold of £7k is extremely generous.
“Micro management: you will not run your own meetings, you will regularly have to read emails allowed”
Graduates are given as much autonomy as possible as we feel that people benefit greatly from learning through experience and reflection. There are, however, certain situations when management may need to review their colleagues’ work. For instance if it could have an influence on the business relationship with a long standing client.
“Data: some weeks will be spent adding data to the system, this data is found from LinkedIn and I would strongly advise not working there”
Any role in recruitment will require an element of data management. We pride ourselves on our extensive database and would like to politely remind and reassure you that only a small proportion of our data comes from LinkedIn and it is not our only resource.
Your feedback is genuinely appreciated and will help us in our continuous review of how we operate. Finally, we would like to thank you for your contributions during your time at Sphere and wish you the best of luck for the future.
