Pros

Staff discount was very favourable. Immediate coworkers (ie my fellow retail staff) were lovely. Products are genuinely good quality so easy to sell.

Cons

Appalling senior management who seemed to like the idea of running retail outlets but had no interest in the realities of how to run them. Staff feedback about stock levels, customer demand, physical space in stores etc was routinely ignored and we ended up overflowing with stock that wasn't selling while having to turn away customers because we didn't have the things they actually wanted. Little care or regard from senior management about the welfare, happiness or mental health of their retail staff, and a toxic culture that meant that if someone in head office took a personal dislike to you they would actively prevent you from progressing or push you out entirely. Bonus schemes were applied unevenly but we were expected to be grateful for whatever little titbits head office threw our way. Abusive customers would be backed up by senior management and we'd get a dressing down for it. It actively felt like management was working against us 99% of the time and they responded to negative feedback like toddlers having a tantrum. Absolutely miserable place to work.
