Pros
Working at Speechify offers the opportunity to work with creative and motivating colleagues. The pace is high and the dynamic environment keeps you excited about work in contrast to bigger corporations. There's no shortage of new ideas on the roadmap and you as an engineer can be an active part of the decision making process. Communication is swift and informal. You can usually receive feedback on a task within an hour or less. Speechify is merit based. The more active and better you become, the more opportunities present themselves for you to lead a team, pick up side projects, take more responsibility. Compensation is very attractive. PTO is also enough.
Cons
Although the engineering stack is using established technologies and processes, there's still room for improvement. This is mostly due to the more intense focus on product rather than engineering work. There's no dedicated time for refactoring existing systems and you have to get things right from the first time. Because the company moves very fast this can lead to degraded code quality in some codebases. As the company grows out, there'd ideally be dedicated teams for quality only.
