Pros
Decent pay and benefits, the free cable is nice but the cable services is awful. For a cable company, the DVR system is terrible, if it wasn't free I wouldn't pay for it. If you just looking for a stable job and not have to really worry about losing job, this place is for you. Health insurance is pretty good Retirement is pretty great surprisingly. Up to 6% match, if you put in 6%, they will give you another 3%. So 15% total yearly for retirement. 3 year vesting Work/life balance is good, at least in my department. We are not to work more than 40-45 hours a week.
Cons
Company lags behind competitors, management doesn't really use common sense, slow to change, more worried about a possible outage than actually doing what is necessary to make things better. Lack of communication between leadership and their employees. Behind in technology, doesn't use tools to their full potential. Old school when it comes to managing people, they expect you to work 8-5 with your lunch at noon unless you have approval to alter hours. Strict no work from home policy unless you have prior approval. They literally have people walk around the office to make sure you are at your cube, VP's actually check badge times...it's a joke. Business casual isn't that big deal to me, but at least let us wear jeans on fridays or something. Work culture is changing, and Charter lags behind, needs younger folks in leadership roles who understand what employees want/need. Generic job titles so hard to really compare to other companies for salary. I hear promotions are easy to obtain but I have yet to see anyone in my group get a promotion. Lacking in career development, have no real performance evaluation or goals set for the year. we basically just wing it. We are about 5 months into the year, and I have yet to have a meeting with my manager about goals for the year, no expectations are set for employees. It's a joke. talk to lots of people across the company and in different groups, everyone basically just says they are neither happy or unhappy when it comes to their job and company. To me that means you are unhappy, if you can't definitively say you enjoy your job or company then you are not happy. I think people are just comfortable with having a job and steady paycheck and don't want to go through hassle of looking elsewhere.
