Pros

Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) was once a great place to work — an environment where hard work was recognized, micromanagement was minimal, and the challenges were both rewarding and motivating. The company fostered a sense of pride and purpose, with employees who were truly dedicated to its mission and success.

Cons

Unfortunately, recent restructuring decisions have led to the loss of many key employees, either through uninformed senior leadership actions or as talented individuals chose to move on to more stable and supportive environments. The remaining staff have witnessed a noticeable decline in executive performance and engagement, which has affected morale and overall productivity.

Pros

Some of the employees are amazing and talented, devoted people. The hours are mostly flexible and some positions are hybrid. You can grow within the company as long as nobody tries to block you. Lack of training forces you to learn quickly, as you are thrown to the wolves from the start.

Cons

Too many layoffs. No transparency within your own department, meaning people get fired from one day to the next and nobody will even tell you. You find out everything through word of mouth and office gossip. Upper management lacks leadership skills. They don’t know the majority of their employees even though it’s a small company, leading to talented people getting laid off while bad employees stay on. A lot of favoritism depending on who you’re friends with or can kiss up to. Every year they have more and more furloughs, and they don’t give much time in advance to plan what you’re going to do without 1-2 weeks of payment. Sales controls every department, whether that’s programming or finance. They run the show which causes a lot of conflicts of interest. There is too much disorganization and lack of training at every level which results in them losing money. Overall, the company is sinking and the unqualified leadership in place doesn’t know how to fix it.
