Pros

Decent pay, though as a therapist we don't receive as much commission at a typical salon/spa. The average here is about 25% commission while most other places you receive between 40 and 60% commission. As a team we all tend to stick together. There isn't much drama between therapists, front desk/ locker room attendants. You get to work with a lot of different people from different backgrounds that come into the spa and it's always nice to be able to work on those people.

Cons

I said before that employees stick together. There is a reason for that. Management at the spa is VERY difficult to work for. Changes are made and implemented before they are announced, pay is changed without announcing it before hand, and they are not necessarily secretive about how they calculate pay, especially for specials and discounts, but they don't explain it and if we calculate it ourselves (how they tell us to) it never quite matches what they pay. As well, don't work here if you expect to have any self esteem or self worth. It is made very clear (usually about 6 months after working there) that you aren't worth much to the spa and little things begin to happen (that you can't quite prove) to manipulate employees, push you until you can't take it any longer and make you quit. Also, a word on benefits- you don't get any. You'll never work full time so there is no health coverage. As well, you don't receive any sick or personal days, bereavement, vacation time, bonuses, or any other benefit that might be common.
