First of all, thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback. We absolutely agree that Sovos is the kind of company where you can gain experience. We have built many of our practices, from hiring to learning & development, to help talented people grow in their careers. Thirty percent of our employees experienced a promotion or job change last year, and that is a number we take a lot of pride in.
I want to address your comment about not valuing experience, though. At Sovos we believe that hiring for culture fit and talent FIRST gives people the best chance to be successful in our unique culture. We don’t hire an individual for their individual contribution in isolation. We hire people for what they bring to our global team. That doesn’t mean we don’t care about experience, though, and that’s an understandable point of confusion. We actively look to bring in people with the right experience and skills, but that is the final part of the process because while we can help people learn and grow to build the experience they need, we can’t change people’s values or behaviors to help them fit into our team.
Finally, thank you for your advice. Effective communication has been a strategic focus at Sovos – and listening is a vital piece of communication. We have recently rolled out a communications best practice with a heavy focus on how to listen to each and every person on the team and use that feedback. We're focused on better enabling all our managers to be genuine, effective communicators who, in turn, can better help our people develop successful career paths with us.
Thanks again for your thoughts!
Eric
