Pros

Campuses are in good locations, clean and well-maintained.

Cons

Numerous concerns, examples: The academic environment is highly toxic, with excessive gossip, lack of respect, and an oppressive culture that discourages new ideas and open discussion. Opportunities for academic promotion are limited and often do not reflect genuine effort or dedication. SCU does not consistently adhere to its own policies and procedures, affecting both staff and students. The organization response to feedback further reflects this culture. Even on platforms such as Glassdoor, responses tend to appear only when reviews are positive. This reinforces a pattern of avoiding accountability rather than acknowledging issues and demonstrating a genuine commitment to improvement. Culture of favourable student feedback, placing implicit pressure on staff to award higher grades. SCU is among the last universities in Australia to accept the National Tertiary Education Union agreement and remains among the lowest in delivering appropriate salary adjustments. Avoid this place if you can.

Pros

- Higher pay rate is due to external recruitment through agencies; internal staff should expect around a 24% lower salary for the same role. - The workplace occasionally hosts live music in the courtyard.

Cons

- No recorded procedures in place. - Staff follow their own workflows → leads to inconsistency. - Toxic culture and mindset within the team → students are blamed instead of recognising departmental disorganisation. - No accountability for staff; high turnover rates. - No training provided to staff. - Backlog of 2+ months, with staff deleting older emails instead of actioning them. - No call history tracking → results in duplication of work. - Emails are simply routed to shared inboxes, without proper workflow management. - Inefficiency results in students being told there are no available centres/placements, even when they've been able to source their own placements. - Students often wait 6+ months for a placement → significant distress, especially for international students on visas. - Call centre staff function mainly as a filtering system, with little real ability to support students (only able to lodge tickets for other teams). - Minimal management engagement or check-ins during contracts. - Students are being placed at centres without staff notifying the centres, leading to multiple complaints and increased cancellations - Mentor teachers have not been paid, with some centres following up on outstanding transactions more than a year old.
