Pros

Working at Sosemo has been an amazing experience. The company culture is laid back yet stimulating and with the all the recent growth employees are highly energized. You get to work on a wide variety of client accounts ranging from Fortune 500 companies to rapidly growing brands to some of the more promising start-ups around. We have partnerships with some of the largest agencies around and get to collaborate on big accounts within a big agency environment then come back and enjoy the boutique culture at Sosemo. Therefore, we get to experience and enjoy the best of both worlds. Our client relationships are second to none. Caring is preached as a core value at Sosemo, which is passed on and received from our clients. We care about our clients and they care about us, which makes for a highly rewarding work environment. In addition to solid client relationships, everyone at that Sosemo is great to work with. We’re a tightly knit team and have frequent team outings. We also interact with many of the neighboring companies in our building. It really feels like we’re all one big family. The location is perfect. Everyday when I pass by the Charging Bull statue and see the Statue of Liberty in the distant I think to myself how lucky I am to work here. The office is located in the old Cunard ship line building, which couldn’t be more beautiful. The benefits at Sosemo are second to none. Our health insurance couldn’t be any better. There is a generous bonus structure, 401K, tons of vacation time, flextime, discounts from a million different businesses and free coffee and beer.

Cons

Nothing comes to mind.

Pros

Many people on the team are hardworking and supportive of one another.

Cons

Like a lot of agencies right now, the company is going through a rough patch, which has led to restructuring and some uncertainty across teams. That’s understandable given the market, but communication and transparency around these changes could have been better. For a small company, leadership visibility felt limited at times. The CEO was not regularly in the NYC office (visiting at most a few times a year) and wasn’t very present with the broader team day to day, which affected culture and alignment. The company has referenced an international presence, but in practice there wasn’t a formal European office or operational team based there, which sometimes created a disconnect between public messaging and the internal reality.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate the acknowledgment of the hardworking and supportive team at Sosemo, and we take all input seriously—especially during times of change. Like many agencies in today’s market, we experienced a period of business contraction last year, which required a restructuring of our team. It’s important to note that this was the first workforce reduction in Sosemo’s 14-year history—something that is not typical in the agency landscape. These decisions were not taken lightly and followed extensive efforts to secure replacement business and maintain stability for our team. We recognize that during periods of transition, communication and visibility are especially important. While we have historically received positive feedback regarding transparency, we also acknowledge that there is always room to improve how we communicate across the organization—particularly in uncertain times. This is an area we continue to focus on as we evolve. Since that period, Sosemo has made strong progress. We have been consistently adding new client accounts, investing in a company-wide transformation—including a rebrand, technology upgrades, and new service offerings—and positioning the business for long-term growth. As a result, we anticipate opening new roles in the near future. Regarding leadership visibility, our model is designed so that day-to-day engagement is led by a hands-on leadership and operations team, while the CEO remains actively involved at the strategic and organizational level. That said, we continue to evaluate how leadership connects with the broader team to ensure strong alignment and culture. With respect to our international presence, our European office has been an evolving part of our growth strategy. Initially setup to explore new business opportunities and partner relationships, it has recently become more operational following the acquisition of new client work in the region. We now support account management, partnerships, and vendor management from this office. Recently, staff from our New York office traveled to our European office to meet with clients and partners in person, and we expect this type of cross-office collaboration and travel to become more frequent as we continue to grow internationally. We are proud of the resilience of our team and the progress we’ve made, and we remain committed to building a transparent, supportive, and high-performing environment. We wish you the best in your next chapter and appreciate your contributions during your time at Sosemo.
