Pros

It's a job in an office.

Cons

They treat everybody like cattle, which begins with the daily “Cow Bell” for which you must be present at 8am sharp. Everybody gathers in a corner of the office, where they give announcements and encourage everybody to grind for the day. You are supposed to bring a notepad and pen to every meeting, because tHeRe'S aLwAyS sOmEtHinG yOu cAn LeArn. Everybody must take lunch at noon and return by 1pm sharp. There are numerous TVs which transition between leaderboards and the “Grindset Mindset” checklist. It is fully in-office, and WFH days are treated as a “perk” you can earn once you reach a certain milestone (and also have taken away should you slip up). They play radio hits over the speakers 24/7, so unless that’s your thing, you may feel like you’re stuck in a black mirror episode on a never-ending loop. Most of the employees don’t seem to notice how peculiar the culture is, perhaps because they are mostly recent grads or from retail. In any case, it’s not for everybody. Low pay, tedious work, lousy candidates, and bad ethics – you are incentivized to offer candidates as little money as possible so that you can capture more for yourself and the company (yet the company pays pennies in commission until you have 1-2 years of tenure). It should tell you all you need to know that they mandate a 12-month noncompete for the entire metropolitan area for this entry level role. Their business model is exploiting and churning new grads.

Pros

- The pay is not bad for the most part. You get paid weekly instead of biweekly or monthly. - Good way to start your CFY if you want to dip your toes into a school setting. - I got a placement very quickly (Only a few days). - Decent benefits (401k, medical, dental, vision). - Great support from my supervisor. - Great work/life balance.

Cons

- No pay during the holidays (summer/winter break) - Some miscommunication between the school and the agency. For example, on my first day at work, I was assigned to start at the beginning of the year. When I went to the front office, nobody knew I was the new SLP. The staff and I had to scramble on what to do with me. It was quite confusing and overwhelming. - The school district does not give you full access to their system (e.g., Areies, SEIS) due to not being a direct hire.

Thank you for sharing your experience and feedback! We’re glad to hear you felt supported by your supervisor, appreciated the work/life balance, and found the placement process quick and efficient. We also appreciate your honest comments regarding communication and system access challenges. We understand how frustrating that first-day experience must have been, and we’re continuously working with our school partners to improve onboarding and coordination processes.
