Pros

Beautiful office, free drinks, good colleagues.

Cons

Got hired and let go in under two weeks. After a brief training period and sharing the knowledge I knew would be useful to them, the boss informed me that it wasn’t going to work out. I was told I could stay through the end of my short-term trial contract, which I tried — but I was then assigned repetitive, unengaging tasks that felt intended to push me out. I didn’t receive my employment contract until several days after I had already started working. I had to ask for it multiple times. When it was finally given to me, it included the wrong start date and clearly stated it would not be extended beyond the trial period. After I resigned, I needed some documentation from them but was then informed that I had not been enrolled in the company’s health insurance, even though the contract explicitly stated I would be which means I could not get the documents. When I asked for clarification, a staff member told me it had simply “slipped their mind.” They said they could enroll me (after I already left) but it would take time and I could not wait for the documents that long. This experience was disorganized, unprofessional, and extremely stressful. It had a serious negative impact on my mental health, and I ultimately felt I had no choice but to leave for my own well-being. I would like to write more about the personality of the boss but as many have already done so before me, I can only say 'trust the reviews'.

Pros

Nice office and location. Occasionally free lunches.

Cons

I can't use his real name because the review will be removed, but the CEO, J, is the textbook definition of a narcissist. I've never met another human being in my life that thought they were the best at everything. The entire company is a scam. Just pulling data from other websites and adding a % to the top. J breaks down every employee until there is nothing left. He's not supportive, bad mouths all past employees, and in general just not a pleasant person to be around. I have no idea how his wife deals with him for more than 5 minutes. This is a Japanese black company that preys on young, naive, foreigners that are looking for work in Japan. He's more focused on buying "cool stuff" for the office than paying employees a competitive wage. When you complain about the salary, he tells you to go elsewhere. Honestly, the worst developer salary in Tokyo.

Pros

Good office location. Weekly massages.

Cons

All these good things are a facade to make you feel a particular way. Treatment of staff is disgustingly bad. The owner is a micromanager who is never happy and will fire a person without a thought after hiring them for a position he had no intention of placing you in. He has no structure to work and has no skills in training people. I and others were let go. Many others quit. But when he fires you he will do it in a manipulative way so he doesn’t have to pay you the exit fee he is meant to. I only realised what he had done after the fact and he twisted my words and changed his own words to say technically you weren’t fired but you quit, which is untrue for everyone he fired. He had issues with his long term staff that he let get in the middle of training new staff. And that staff member he had issues with made life difficult for the training staff because she no longer cared. He fired that new staff because they were unable to function in that toxic environment although they did everything they could to try work and even said they wanted to stay. He then lied and said that new staff quit but we saw it with our own eyes when he fired him. Disgusting human being.
