Pros

Great mission. Being part of a disruptive company, revolutionizing the energy sector. Ample job opportunities. Short promotion period. A lot of ambitious and smart people to work with. Very competitive.

Cons

Your energy, time, and resources will be sucked out and then you will be dumped. 1. The pay. Far from adequate for the amount of hours at work. The position requires literally 24/7 involvement as there is somebody on your team who is working every day of the week. 2. They lie to you all the time. From the interview - when they tell you about how much money you will make - on through your employment. The dangling carrot method is pervasive. 3. The compensation scheme in the channel is not fair. You and your team are being paid on how well the sales side can close on the appointments and the money is taken back from you if a deal gets cancelled - something totally out of your or your team's control. 4. No respect for individual. You will get disposed of with or without a reason, if you are not constantly showing improvement vs. past months and/or if you are not kissing your manager's butt (management does not take well constructive criticism). 5. Micro-management. Be ready to be watched every minute on the job, even if you are a manager. 6. Heavy dependence on emails, but no email professional culture. Everybody hits "Reply All" button and spams your inbox with "Great job!" messages addressed to somebody else. 7. Constant brain-washing. Expect to hear a lot about changing and saving the world. Both of the concepts are great when they are supported by adequate remuneration. This is a "for-profit" company and it's quite cynical to use the higher principals in order to drive your business without paying people adequately.

Pros

Just to quantify my review a bit, I am within the top 10% of inside sales reps within our 12,000 person company. It is a great place to work and people doing well ARE able to make good money here. The executive team ALWAYS has a platform for reps to help make SolarCity a better place every quarter. They involve the top 20 reps each quarter in various ways to help their peers through an interactive group called Team Elite. Executives, VP's, Directors, and Managers are always willing to help and go to bat when there are issues with things that need to be fixed. The direction of the company is consistent and although the company is large, decision makers work as hard as possible to steer the big ship quickly when necessary.

Cons

Knee jerk reactions with decision making at a director level create issues from time to time. Culture has had its ups and downs due to HUGE growth last year and subsequent high attrition rates.
