In a word my experience with SolarCity has been conflicting. - Anonymous employee SolarCity Employee Review

Pros

Helping change the way people think about powering their homes. It's amazing to work for a green company. All the people I have worked with have been great people. The flexibility with my schedule has also been good - it's nice to know that if the weather is bad I have the option to work from home.

Cons

The pay is horrandous. At least my pay is. I did a search on glassdoor to see what people in the same position get paid and I was far lower than everyone else. I make such little money that I can't afford a place to live (I'm basically homeless), I'm also on food stamps and I can't afford the health insurance provided by SolarCity. I've been with the company for 2 years, one year as a temp and one year as a full time employee and I still have not received my shares of stock. I've inquired with both the stock admin and my HR rep and neither knew anything. Having those shares of stock would really help because I'm struggling financially right now.

Pros

Just to quantify my review a bit, I am within the top 10% of inside sales reps within our 12,000 person company. It is a great place to work and people doing well ARE able to make good money here. The executive team ALWAYS has a platform for reps to help make SolarCity a better place every quarter. They involve the top 20 reps each quarter in various ways to help their peers through an interactive group called Team Elite. Executives, VP's, Directors, and Managers are always willing to help and go to bat when there are issues with things that need to be fixed. The direction of the company is consistent and although the company is large, decision makers work as hard as possible to steer the big ship quickly when necessary.

Cons

Knee jerk reactions with decision making at a director level create issues from time to time. Culture has had its ups and downs due to HUGE growth last year and subsequent high attrition rates.
