Hard work is rewarded - National Account Manager Software Connect Employee Review

Pros

Software Connect is a small family owned business so the work life balance is far and above what other companies offer. Our schedule is a hybrid approach so we get generous time off as well as work from home days throughout the year. The benefits package is exceptional with paid health insurance and 401k match and office work attire is relaxed. Every year of employment has come with an increase in pay and hard work is always rewarded.

Cons

Being a smaller company you do not have as many title changes as you would with a larger organization. With that being said, the pay does increase with longevity and/or performance so the lack of title change is unimportant.

Pros

I love having flexible hours. It allows me to balance my personal and work life well. It's a small and casual company (under 10 people). They allow 10 remote work days per year and +7 remote Fridays in the summer. Otherwise everyone is in office.

Cons

Requires a good amount of self-motivation. There's not always a ton of detailed training, so you have to learn a lot on the fly. Software concepts can feel a bit abstract at times. Most roles are at least partly commissioned-based.

Pros

They paid for my health insurance in full and I could choose which hours I worked during the day. I learned a lot about software.

Cons

1. Rarely, if ever, received any positive feedback from management, which became extremely demoralizing (despite many well-performing pieces of content) 2. Micromanaging all aspects of content production. 3. Completely changing strategy with very little warning or training, then getting mad when I couldn’t instantly get up to speed. 4. Content and UX strategy doesn’t align with industry best practices. 5. Manager put me on a performance improvement plan, I successfully hit my goals, then they fired me shortly after anyway. 6. Rarely allowed to work from home (this job could very VERY easily be done from home). People worked alone with little to no collaboration. 7. Never opened up for real feedback, only had maybe one single team meeting to discuss strategy during my entire employment. 8. Increased the number of pieces of content per month with no increase in compensation. 9. Removed google analytics, which made it harder to track real content performance.

As with any company, occasionally, there is a mismatch between an employee’s performance and their employer’s expectations. We worked hard to set clear goals and provide guidance and mentorship, but ultimately, it became clear that the best path forward was for us to part ways. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.
