Pros

Colleagues were great. Very friendly, helpful and sociable. I worked in a very diverse team with great abilities. Interesting and varied work with large scale and challenging ERP programmes. Salary was average for the role

Cons

A number of benefits (and opportunities for promotion) were promised as part of the recruitment process but quickly forgotten once employed. The company appears to run a two tire system. One for mates and one for the rest. If you are friends with 'the management' you will progress quickly, be offered great roles and looked after in any reorganisation. Anyone else is likely to be overlooked, irrespective of contribution or performance. Line management can be very poor. Don't expect support or even 1:1 meetings from some quarters. Hours worked meant finding time for personal development was impossible (unless you are in one of the 'mates' roles). People have been recruited and then lost their jobs due to cuts after only 6 months. Constant reorganisation. Staff turnover is very high. Work life balance is horrendous. Anyone recruited on a part time basis ends up working full time on reduced money. Don't touch a part time role as you will become cheap labour. A few key managers have been over promoted and lack experience and knowledge of their portfolios. Internal systems and processes lack maturity and in some cases are quite basic. Whist salaries are OK, the other benefits are poor. No opportunity to buy extra days annual leave etc. No bonus or car allowance. Are not as independent as they like to be seen. Will sometimes put revenue ahead of providing the right advice. They try to recruit the best people from Local Government (and the wider public sector) in order to sell them back to Local Gov and the public sector at inflated day rates. The taxpayer loses.

Pros

Great immediate team and flexibility

Cons

Low pay compared to other standard and even lower positions with only a yearly chance at a pay rise, and bribes to make you stay, not wanting to offer competitive salary to keep staff. Taking advantage of you wanting to do higher level/challenging tasks without promotions then expecting it is still done. Role was not defined so they tried to get away with it, everyone in the team had the same job title but were at significantly different skill/task levels. Seems to always be making changes to exec, managers and staff with a high turnover. Random layoffs when they weren't needed, caused by issues in other departments but everyone had to "feel the pain" causing team breakups and heavy workload. Promotions are promised then never come to fruition. Internal positions not advertised, roles given to friends from outside and new staff hired rather than hiring those worthy of the promotion and role. Benefits were mediocre at best and rarely worked well, BIK tax was messed up and now still paying for it. Company still seems immature and has a long way to grow. A shame to leave as really enjoyed the job and team at the time, shame about the company management.
