Can be difficult - Customer Service Representative/TSR Social Security Administration Employee Review

Pros

Good balance with ability to work credit and flexible starting hours. It’s not a job you have to “take home” with you - you hang up the phone at the end of the day and you’re done. You know what to expect each day, which can be a good or bad thing. In the TSC’s, they are currently doing mainly remote work, which is a great perk.

Cons

For such a complicated job, training is almost completely useless, especially if you were trained remotely during the pandemic. Most employees went on the phone without any on the job training or experience working with the live systems, which are complicated and out of date. Managers will put on a show by telling you to ask when you need help, but when you ask, you will typically get an attitude from them if any help at all. They’ll tell you to read policy, which is this cumbersome operating manual written in “legalese” that is tough for most people to understand. You will be micromanaged every second of the day as supervisors track your stats on every call you take.
