I've been working remotely for Snowflake from Colombia for a year now, and my experience has been nothing short of phenomenal. The company has a fantastic remote work culture that makes me feel connected and valued, even from afar. One of the standout aspects of working at Snowflake is the comprehensive benefits package managed by a local broker in Colombia. They handle all the details, ensuring that I have access to the same great benefits as my colleagues in other locations. Additionally, Snowflake's RSU (Restricted Stock Units) program is a significant perk. Receiving stock options as part of my compensation has not only been financially rewarding but also makes me feel more invested in the company's success. Overall, Snowflake has created an environment where remote employees can thrive, providing excellent support and benefits that make working here a truly exceptional experience.

However, there is always the looming concern of mass layoffs in the tech industry. In Colombia, companies tend to be more cautious about laying off employees, but in a large company like Snowflake, layoffs can happen when least expected. Nevertheless, the executive team has stated that they do not currently have any layoffs planned. Pros

Flexibility of working remotely for remote workers, reimbursement for cell phone and gym expenses (remote workers). Pay is decent. Company viability seems relatively good.

Cons

Company culture and morale tanked when the current ELT came onboard. Strong surveillance culture, shady communication, sneaky layoffs are becoming a new norm with this ELT. Opportunities for career growth are much more limited now. Benefits are getting cut - “unlimited PTO” is limited, reduced company holidays. Stock based compensation is stingy at best. Even as a top performer , don’t count on getting equity refreshes or raises. Intent on replacing humans with AI vs augmenting human work with AI.
