Pros
Employees enjoy a family friendly, flexible work environment. Camaraderie is also good across departments and academic divisions. Generally Faculty and Staff employees are valued equally. Faculty and administrators recognize and value the work of the administrative, student success and campus service employees. As a community college, Faculty do not have a "publish or perish" mandate so they actually get to enjoy their summers and downtime from classroom duties to work on their passions, update or refresh their curriculum, etc. Benefits are amazing - insurance, 401K, Pension, access to college-sponsored sports/theater/music/activity center/pool, free tuition for spouse and family members to age 26, etc.
Cons
The pay is low, even compared to other public higher ed institutions in our state. The college is working to bring full-time staff and faculty up to 85% of median through a compensation study and some set aside funds. Bottom line, though, you work for Snow because of quality of life, easy 10-minute walking commute, access to public recreation and public lands, and rural lifestyle. If you want more money and the 2 hour round-trip commute, go to SLC area.
