Pros

Genuinely some awesome people working there

Cons

I’ve held off writing this review, but at this point, it’s clear that a lot needs to be added to the conversation surrounding this company. 1. I would never ever recommend anyone to work here, unless you’re well-acquainted and comfortable with toxic workplaces. 2. I hope the employees that work here find the courage to speak up, if they haven’t already. 3. I recognize that speaking up often ends up in the employee(s) being ostracized or even fired, so it might not be reasonable to do so for some that have no other job options at this time. (mentioned in other reviews on here too) The energy around this company, especially with its coveted inner circle, is almost cult-like. It’s scary. The review titled “Smoke and Mirrors” is so accurate. This company is all shine and no substance. Free lunches, beautiful office, company outings, glamorous parties, cool er than you “vibes” etc etc. That’s cool on the surface and a great way to recruit people. But once you’re there for a while, the truth gets revealed. You then either play along with their charade, or suffer in silence knowing how corrupt everything really is. While the company applauded itself for great HR practices, employees were not given the option to work from home during the start of this pandemic. The delayed response and action taken in the workplace was due purely to greed and not wanting to lose money, all while putting their workers in danger. There was a lot of dissent surrounding COVID-19 that was ignored or criticized. In the same year that employees were being told that some of them couldn’t take PTO around the holidays due to low funds, the owners took several lavish vacations with their girlfriends. While employees were getting laid off, the owners took even more lavish vacations or flaunted their fancy outings with their inner circle work friends on social media. While the company shows off its great team, management is using its hierarchy to bypass good morals and leadership by disregarding “lower” employees’ needs. Management is incompetent and harms the team more than it helps. People are moved around with the guise of “promotions” while having responsibilities taken away due to bad performance. There is such a lack of ownership all around and it has been disgusting to watch. Speaking of morals and being disgusting, this company proved once again that they’re all talk and no action. They took such a hard stance on the BLM movement this year (cute marketing material handed out at protests promoting the company…). And yet when racial discrimination or racist comments were reported in the past, nothing was done. In fact, a manager who said blatantly racist things and was reported still works there now. Additionally, they’ve scammed their way into their fortune. There’s a reason why you go to their website and you can’t figure out what they actually do. The products they actually sell take advantage of older or vulnerable women. That’s why you can’t find any information tying Smashtech to the products they sell. The diet products have abysmally low customer reviews, complaints, and fraud reports. Also, don’t be fooled by all the “Best of” awards they’ve gotten. These are voted on internally by employees, and they are pressured into providing positive feedback. They are marketing tools and nothing more. This goes back to the cult-like environment and manipulation. I have no doubt that once the top people in the company see this review, there’ll be some meeting to address how it’s all heresy and that it’s safe environment to speak up and blah blah blah. Don’t be surprised if you see a flood of positive reviews after this one goes up. If you still work there and you see this, please say or do something. No matter how much they say they’re changing their ways or want to change, stay consistent and hold them accountable. Or leave if you can. The high turnover rate and mass layoffs at this point are also a great indication for the true health of Smashtech. Take this opportunity to really look at how Smashtech is treating you. Don’t let them manipulate their perfect image any longer. You deserve better.
