Pros

Good for building clientele Disscounts on products and product samples They supply everything but shears Continued training

Cons

Don't see you as a person at all There were several times that they were short staffed in another town and the regional manager MADE me drive to the other salon 20 minutes faster than the other one from my house to fill in there, ugggggh mane the store manager there should have filled those hours or the regional manager could have stepped in, but NO because I was the youngest I had to go. That was an extra 40 minutes of driving for free! And if I didn't do it I was fired! I had no problem working at my salon, but forget that other one it was run down and the other girls were hatful and ghetto They don't want YOU to grow as a stylist they pay $300 for TWO weeks! Tips are taxed so I doesn't even help if you get a tip on a service if it's on a card They DISCOUNT services and don't pay you the difference, they'll do a promo all the time that's $9.99 haircuts... Great accept the only people that use those are already coming there anyways, and if you're trying to reach commission it's IMPOSSIBLE when those promos are going on Can't call in sick MANDITORY meetings that you have to clock in for (eating at the time you're there for 2 hours taking your productivity down so that NOONE can reach commission that pay period) You only get commission on product if you make enough to qualify doing hair MICROMANAGED TO DEATH! Every week there is a new stupid task to do, get everyone's email, keep track of combos, get as many phone numbers as possible in the computer, make a poster, handing out cards in Walmart, attending walmarts morning meetings, standing at the front handing stupid stuff out The stylists are responsible for carrying out a deposits of CASH every night at 9! And taking it to the bank.. And if you were to get shot or beat for that money you'd still be the one I trouble to "loosing it" I always had a big manager from Walmart walk me to my car when I had to take the deposits Can be fired for SITTING. If you aren't doing anything your butt better be standing at the front handing out cards and samples, 10 hour shifts standing, if they see you sit even for a moment when clicked in you are fired! Smokers got to take two 15 min breaks and sit on the bench outside, but I don't smoke so I stood all day. They only let you have ONE tube of every color.. HOW are you supposed to color someone with long hair?? And you only ever got color in every 2-4 weeks so you just don't get to use that color again. Can't use antithetical products besides Regis knock off of products unless it was a promotional time Our regional manager would make us let people sign in up until 9pm! If they wrote their name down before 9, they got their hair cut, so if 5 people are signed up for services, you were there until 11 after you finished them and cleaning Worked EVERY Holliday accept Christmas and thanksgiving Couldn't start cleaning or closing duties until 9pm Closing consisted of, pulling in shelves, pulling in large heavy signs, counting the drawer, putting all sign in sheets in an envelope, calling the regional manager to tell her what the salon made that day, sitting heavy gates, taking out trash, turning off the computer, radio, lights, sweeping and moping, pushing in all the chairs, folding all the towels, dumping the barbiside tubs and drying the combs, and then driving the OPPOSITE direction from my house to deposits cash that I shouldn't have to be in danger of carrying out, all that's not so bad and expected, but I couldn't start that list until 9! So I was there till 10... Then had to drive out of my way by 10 minutes.. Can't work on yourself or your fired! Can't brush your hair, put on your make up, eat, anything on the floor even if no one is in there, if the regional manager walked up you were fired! I liked the girls I worked with and loved my store manager, but I couldn't handle the micro managing and packed my things!

Pros

None, none, none, none, none

Cons

This workplace runs on vibes, guesswork, and unanswered messages. Upper Management had an impressive talent for being completely unreachable while simultaneously expecting miracles. Responses took days — sometimes weeks — but urgency was always your problem. Hiring approvals were blocked or endlessly delayed, leaving teams severely understaffed while leadership sat comfortably on the sidelines asking why things weren’t running perfectly. Accountability flowed strictly downward. Authority? None. Support? Cosmetic at best. Problems were ignored until they became emergencies, at which point they were blamed on the people who had been begging for help all along. Communication was inconsistent, expectations were unclear, and burnout was treated like a personal weakness instead of a predictable outcome of chronic mismanagement. If you enjoy being set up to fail, blamed for systemic issues, and gaslit into thinking you didn’t “try hard enough,” this is absolutely the place for you. Otherwise, save yourself the stress and look elsewhere.
