Pros
The core team is smart and ready to work hard for clients. It's rewarding to execute campaigns for clients and watch them succeed or have a great meeting with their leadership. Clients are typically super thankful for the help that the team provides. It's nice to work with a team of people who understand marketing. If you can deal with the senior leadership, this is a great resume builder. There is an opportunity to learn all aspects of marketing - SEO, PPC, lead and demand gen, content, and more. It's great to add those skills to your expertise. Office setup is good. Everyone gets Macs and what they need to get the job done. You make a lot of great connections with interesting companies and people.
Cons
Two main things standout: abrasive, misleading leadership and employee turnover. Senior leaders request transparency from team members, but don't follow through on their side as well. People walk on eggshells because senior leaders lash out unexpectedly and share their opinions of team members with that person's peers. There is a culture of fear because when team's present ideas or plans to senior leadership, they hear "Do you really think this is good?" or "It's not... horrible." Then, when you ask what they are looking for instead, "I don't know, but it's not that." The environment is one of "Do as I say, not as I do" and it starts from the top down. Senior leaders fail to recognize their own faults and continue to blame their problems on others. Meanwhile, clients are leaving and employees are unhappy. The employee turnover is intense. Anyone that has been in a good environment before and is competitive in the market won't stay long. It's just not worth the time and energy. There are other agencies that offer similar experience and less of the drama. Because of so many people leaving, employees are left to pick up the pieces and are pushed into projects that they don't understand or don't have the skills for. Very little skills training since there is too much work.
