Pros
The store staff is all very friendly and drama free. It's a very easy and laidback job, and you get access to the samples and testers. It's free skincare for anyone who works here. This is a good first job for a high school student or an easy part time job for someone in college.
Cons
The job is sometimes too easy and gets very slow and boring with nothing to stimulate your brain. There are no benefits with the position. You are encouraged to meet sales goals but there is no commission, no bonuses, no employee discounts, and no raises. There is a possible chance for a raise after working over 1 year but even then it will only be $0.25 - $0.50. They will also delay the employee evaluation for raises process for as long as they can. You can't really move up in the company unless you accept being severely underpaid. When hired, they will not tell you your starting rate or lie to you and change it after you accept. You will see it in your paycheck. It will be starting at $8.50/hr for sales associates and $9.50 for assistant managers. The stores have a very hard time keeping all items in stock. You will deal with angry customers on a daily basis asking why an item is never in stock. Inventory is a huge issue but corporate will blame you as a sales associate for not selling enough product, despite these being skincare specific items that only certain people with specific skin types can use. The stores will get a giant restock every 3-5 months but everything will sell out within the next few weeks and you deal with an empty store for another several weeks before they send you another proper shipment. Upper management will make empty promises and lie to you. They will never go on their word and nothing goes through. They will continually make excuses and delay everything but expect you to try your hardest and meet the sales goal.
