Pros
Fast paced work, able to dig into every aspect of production of an episode - from pre-production, production in the field, working with editors, research on acquired materials, location scouting + hiring actors for re-enactments to being on these "mini-movie" sets for re-enactments. You get your hands into everything and feel ownership of every episode you work on.
Cons
The pros are also the cons - you're busy. Very busy. With extremely tight schedules from the network, you're expected to do a lot in a very small amount of time. It's grueling and if you don't have the right attitude, or aren't able to delegate to others on the (small) team and communicate what you can not do to your superiors, you might crumble. Communication is key!
