Pros

- Wide range of fun clients - Opportunities to learn about the industry and create content

Cons

The short time I spent at Sircle was the fastest I’ve ever experienced burnout. Despite their constant brag about work life balance, autonomy and flexibility since day one, every day was a tightrope walk. Expectations were so unrealistic that even in training, I was perpetually behind. I was micromanaged every second of my day. Emails, tasks, and my calendar was packed to the rim and was scrutinized down to the minute. You constantly feel judged and feel like your life/job is on the line for every little mistake you may make. If you raised any sort of concerns regarding timing or workload, the only and #1 favorite feedback you’d ever get from anyone was to “organize your calendar better” and “time management.” They brag about perks like “unlimited PTO” and “summer Fridays” but it’s hard to actually to take off on such occasions because even when you’re off, you’re working. Even on holidays, you are expected to be online and posting or being “highly recommended” to work by your manager, despite being told you’re “never expected to work outside of work hours.” Meanwhile, the culture is cult-like. Everyone was exhausted behind the scene but acts like they love their jobs on company meetings and on LinkedIn. The CEO, despite much respect for his impressive accomplishments, would send out his LinkedIn posts to everyone in the company asking for engagements. It was exhausting. To anyone considering this job: I know we all need a job and have bills to pay, just be prepared. I thought maybe this was just how the workforce was - you get a job, and that’s the trade off. But then I found a new job and it’s different. I have balance. My manager trusts me, and I’m not micromanaged. So if you feel that burnout and you’re stuck, please know there are better opportunities out there. Don’t settle for this.

Pros

My SMMs and the internship supervisors were so kind and genuinely wanted to help me learn more about social media marketing, and did their best to give me tasks that allowed for that growth. I loved getting social strategy experience with the Pay it Forward program. Got to work on some really awesome brands and see my reccomendations come to life.

Cons

Unpaid internship did not make me feel valued as an intern for the work that I did. I was not allowed to work on any analytics for brands because of a policy where interns can't be logged into brand socials accounts. I tried several times to work on reporting tasks and was always turned down because of this policy. Really hard to learn social reporting because of this let alone showcase any of the impact I had as an intern on the brand socials. Turnover seemed really high.
