Pros

- As an intern, I got to write and design core parts of production code. - Genuinely flexible hours - Engineering team is a pleasure to be around and to work with. The work was really interesting. I lived with other interns this summer and there were plenty of times when we'd sit in the living room after work and gush about how cool the stuff we were working on was. In general, everyone was extremely helpful. You know how sometimes at internships, you get stuck on some thing and there's no one around to help and you just sort of sit helplessly for a hour or two until someone unblocks you? This almost never happened at MemSQL. Of course, that's not to say that I never got blocked; I got blocked a bunch. But I was encouraged to ask questions and everyone on my team was happy to help. As a result, I felt like I was at least making forward progress almost all the time. I really enjoyed my time at MemSQL and I'd encourage you to apply. :D

Cons

I will say none of the following things bothered me, but since Glassdoor has a 20 word minimum, here you go: - Catered food can be hit-or-miss. - Workplace can get a bit loud.

Cons

Focus on creating a culture where employees feel respected, supported, and valued. Take employee feedback seriously and hold managers and team leads accountable for how they interact with their teams. When employees raise concerns or ask for support, ensure those issues are addressed with meaningful action rather than being overlooked. Better communication, transparency, and leadership accountability would help build trust, improve morale, and strengthen employee retention.
