Pros
Some friendly colleagues and a few helpful condo managers
Gained exposure to real-life property management issues early on
Opportunity to learn hands-on if you're highly self-sufficient
The admin department is well-structured, with strong processes, clear procedures, solid training, and supportive management. Unfortunately, that level of organization and support does not extend to other departments, particularly for condo managers in training.
Cons
Management prioritizes output over employee well-being, professional development, or integrity of work and service.
Training quality varies drastically depending on your direct manager. some are supportive, while others are dismissive and unprofessional. In my case, my manager frequently undermined and belittled me in front of Board Members. The training process was contradictory, and my requests for support or questions were used against me. The overall dynamic was confusing, disempowering, and at times felt demeaning.
Staff are assigned excessive workloads with unclear expectations and minimal support
Key processes and communication protocols are inconsistently explained, yet employees are still held accountable to them retroactively
Feedback is sparse and vague, yet disciplinary actions can be abrupt and unexplained. I received positive feedback from boards and had no performance issues noted in reviews. Yet my manager raised concerns to leadership without speaking to me, and no one initiated a conversation with me before decisions were made about my role.
Efforts to raise concerns about internal issues were dismissed rather than addressed, despite being aimed at improving outcomes for clients and protecting the company’s reputation.
Communication between departments is disjointed and often lacking. This results in confusion, tension, missed information, and unnecessary stress. There appears to be no consistent system for cross department collaboration or follow up.
My departure was sudden and lacked transparency, aligning with the broader issues in the company’s communication and leadership culture.
