Pros

I was close with some coworkers

Cons

Silverback Strategies has the worst work life balance of any place I've been! If you work here, you'll be staffed to twice the number of accounts they say you'll manage, take constant emotional abuse from both management and clients, and need to work late hours and weekends just to stay afloat. Management will make empty promises constantly and blatantly gaslight you about promises they've made. The C-suite is a boys club that makes disparaging comments about fellow employees - they will deny this but I have personally seen it happen. The CEO has no idea what he's doing and is making it up as he goes. Promotions will go to whoever management likes the most, and then they over-invest in non-revenue driving positions and departments, leaving to an increased workload. Silverback Strategies is fast to fire and has many layoffs from losing clients because they don't differentiate themselves from the thousands of other agencies. Save yourself from trauma and don't work here.

Silverback Strategies Response

Hi there. I’m sorry Silverback wasn’t a good fit for you. When a team member is no longer a fit for Silverback, we pay them an above market severance and do everything possible to help them transition to what’s next. I think it’s fair that sometimes I don’t know what I’m doing. I strongly disagree that Silverback is a boys club or a sweatshop. While our company is lacking in some areas of diversity, over 60% of our workforce is women and our leadership team is 66% female. We check employee bandwidth on a weekly basis. Our people manage 2-5 accounts and very few people work over 40 hours a week. I wish you the best of luck and hope you find the right company.

Pros

A very supportive environment for fine-tuning your marketing skills. Growth has been calculated and, most importantly, not rushed, which helps a ton with ensuring employees aren't overloaded with work. Remote flexibility and genuinely great people. Diverse clients (all have been great), which allows you to understand the nuances of a variety of industries.

Cons

Not necessarily a con, but there are high standards to get yourself up to speed with executing at the level of detail they pride themselves on. If you're up for growing and becoming better at what you do, this is a great place to do it. Quick reiteration that you have support to get you there!
