Pros

Flexible schedule and ability to work from home, nice people to work with, exciting environment in that things are often changing

Cons

No leadership presence or clear direction, lack of communication or input from employees, lack of diversity, particularly in leadership, employees are constantly coming and going with most of the company unaware who has joined or left, almost everyone works remotely so there is no sense of team

Pros

Very smart people. I learned a lot. Remote first - work with people all over the world.

Cons

Revolving executive management. Uncertainty about company solvency.

Pros

The caliber of the people. Silent Circle has employed some of the finest minds in security and encryption in our industry. Additionally, the "can do" spirit of many of the ex-military folk who founded and drove the company is unequalled.

Cons

The competition. The risk. Silent Circle has a hard row to hoe. There are free and open software solutions that are nearly as good, but which are "free", and which are hard to compete with in the consumer space. Silent Circle has chosen, therefore, to go into the Enterprise space. While it is moderately clear that enterprises are not satisfied trusting strategic information to free software, it is also not clear that they are willing to do business own the scale that Silent Circle needs to be viable. The company faces substantial risk. Most of the founding and early employees thrive on risk and challenge. Building a stable successful business out of that involves a lot of risk and stress.
