Pros

You can work remotely frequently

Cons

Shortlist suffers from poor management and disconnected leadership team. Leadership does not share or convey their vision, and it’s hard to know what direction the company is taking. They also are unfocused and change strategy constantly. They privilege senior hires who get paid in usd vs local currency, and often meet amongst themselves but not with more junior staff. Very little support for growth beyond a paltry “learning and development budget” that lets you buy some books. No proper HR, problems go unaddressed and whatever senior people want to do to you they can get.

Pros

- The culture is great given the diversity of the team. We have people from many countries and various professional backgrounds bringing in fresh perspectives - The problem we are trying to solve is huge and has lot of opportunity for innovation - The management team comes from successful backgrounds laying a strong foundation for the company - The technology used here for building the products is very cutting-edge and latest

Cons

- none identified yet, but will update once I find any

Pros

- they pay well (on the executive search side) compared to most Kenyan companies. - decent health insurance cover - very chill culture, they don’t tend to take themselves too seriously and can have a laugh

Cons

- They are building an unethical culture when it comes to work. The Managing Partner has a minion who will make your life hell if you have differing opinions. I’m not sure if the co-founders know this. Or, they do but they don’t care because at the end of the day it’s a numbers game. - I’ve seen a lot of people from privileged back grounds get away with murder. Those without it live in fear. Those with privilege exploit this both physically and mentally on those without. - It’s over for you once they decide they don’t like you. Formal complaints of bullying won’t work, higher ups will watch you get tossed around by their minions and do nothing about it. Leave at this point, I know it’s a hard job market but keep your dignity. - Scandals front, left, right and centre. - Terrible work/life balance. - To succeed here, you may have to do things that don’t necessarily align with wholesome values. ‘’Not getting involved’’ is not an option.
