Pros

Work in the Fashion Industry. Seemed exciting at first.

Cons

This company offers very low wages and benefits. Hard to keep up with the different expectations from each owner and we are often caught in the middle. At first you are welcomed, embraced and it seems like you will be appreciated and fit into the environment. Over time we are treated just the "hired help" with few benefits and low pay plus very few vacation days. There is also a lot of employee turnover. One earlier review states they are not micro-managed daily. That is because that reviewer works at a Chicago suburb location where the owners do not live. We are definitely micro-managed in Phoenix and Scottsdale locations since that is where the corporate office is located and where the owners live. Don't let first impressions fool you. This will not be a job you will want to stick with over time.

As a small business it is very unusual that we offer any insurance coverage. We are extremely proud of this benefit and it extends across health, dental, vision, hearing and chiropractic. We have a terrific health care partner in Humana and they have been very supportive of associates through multiple pregnancy and deliveries, broken bones and car accidents to name a few. Not only is the coverage strong, the rates we offer to our associates are 32- 44% (depending on location) less than what is available on the “open market”. We also have an insurance broker available to speak with confidentially to discuss specific treatment options, assist with medical billing and be a general insurance expert to the team. From a compensation perspective, overall Alixandra Collections’ targets pay between a 95 and 125+ index to the market. For example, if the average rate of pay for a particular role in a particular market is $12, our scale is $11.50- $15+. Where new hires fall on this scale is based upon experience and growth potential. For existing associates, the determining factors include experience, results, growth potential and loyalty. As a Company, Alixandra Collections’ offers pay that is higher than what the typical boutique offers. Additionally, our work life balance, work environment, flexible scheduling and insurance benefits far outweigh those of our competitors.

Pros

Alixandra Collections is extremely enjoyable to work for, especially if you love fashion. I always look forward to coming into work every week. You are always recognized for the hard work you put in and the successful results you get. This was my first business of fashion position and I would not change it for anything. The owners and team are flexible with the time you can dedicate to working, as with me, I simultaneously am pursuing a masters degree, while they still keep me on the team, with the need of less hours to maintain my intense school schedule. The team is friendly and supportive of you and extends the positive attitudes of the small business mentality. Growth of the team has seemed top of mind to the Alixandra Collections team. Highly recommend if you like to be challenged and work in business of fashion, around a corporate team that is supportive of you.

Cons

The pay is understandably less as a small business rather than other corporate businesses.

Pros

It can be fun to work here but expectations are very high for the compensation received.

Cons

As a store manager, you are basically a glorified sales associate that merchandises. Pay is low. Benefits are not competitive with high costs. Owners make emotional decisions. And performance reviews and consistent communication is avoided. Beware...
