Pros

If you're looking for great culture, good people, and a smaller sized company where you can learn a lot fast, Shockoe is an excellent place to work! Being a digital consultancy, Shockoe has a wide variety of projects (mostly focused on mobile apps, but some other platforms as well) where the team is always learning new skills and technologies. Shockoe employees are smart, competent consultants who know how to solve problems collaboratively, leaning on each other's expertise to build effective solutions. They have successfully created some really impressive products for their clients. I genuinely value the experience I gained and the lessons I learned at Shockoe!

Cons

Being small (40-50 people) has it's pros and cons. I often had to wear multiple "hats" at once, which could sometimes be really exciting and other times not so much. That's mostly just the nature of consulting, especially in a smaller firm. Though most people are based in Richmond, the company is fully remote aside from the occasional gathering at a co-working space. Personally, I was looking for more in-office culture, so this was a small downside for me. I will say Shockoe may revisit the idea of a home office in the future.

Pros

Non, they push a woke agenda

Cons

The company faces significant leadership challenges, Edwin Huertas as the CEO seems to be in lala land, with decision-making concentrated in roles that may lack relevant technical expertise, creating frustration for employees trying to execute effective strategies. No room to grow and will turn their back on you in a heartbeat. Stay far away. Would not be surprised if the company closes soon, has had max exits and firings as they have lost most of their accounts.
