Pros
There is not much cooler than working on 3D technology and the ship building industry is amazingly fascinating. Its also not just 3D, it's 3D with a purpose. The company takes care to hire team people so the the work environment is quite congenial. People help each other rather than competing. Its a good team.
Cons
The company does not offer any help to Developers to learn more about the ship building industry. Given that we are focused only on this industry and that it would help us understand what we do, this attitude seems short sited. The argument of course is that developers need to know software development, not ship building. Development is less structured than I would like. More time in planning and designing new features would increase product quality and developer satisfaction. That fellow developers appreciate and support good design helps offset this somewhat. This is a small company that is growing so I expect that some of this will change as the company grows. Smaller companies can get away with, and often must resort to, development shortcuts. Salaries seem on the low end, even for the local market but for most developers the workload most of the time is not high pressure.
