Pros

- Benefits are good - Residents are lovely - Dynamic Workplace

Cons

1) The pay is not as high for the work I was doing, considering that I was constantly interacting with residents (I am not a nursing nor care staff just to be clear), and what was listed in the job description was not exactly what was asked of me when I worked there. I do understand being able to go above and beyond for any job, but when I am being asked to do a task that is not my department's job, and to be at the end of the ire of one of the managers who requested this disappointed me. 2) The management is toxic--the General Manager sets very high expectations from her staff without even informing them of this, and so when a staff member makes one mistake they are immediately taken off the pedestal that they were put on, and it's downward from there. I was also subjected to a very humiliating meeting, where I was basically accused of something that was not my fault; if I had not done my own investigation to clear my name, I would have been branded as the staff member who wouldn't find ways to help a resident, when I am known as someone who does. I came out of that meeting feeling very humiliated. She also used my mental illness as a way to manipulate me to moving to another department and to switch to a lighter load, I refused. Not to mention the Dining Room Manager is a very spiteful woman who is a snitch and spills nothing but poison to the General Manager. I and a few other staff members are victims of this horrid woman who has nothing better to do than to be spiteful and bitter. She was also the same person who asked me to do work that was not mine to do. 3) You cannot trust some co-workers at this facility. You do not know who is your friend and who is poisoning you behind your back. I came to work here very optimistic and hopeful, but having witnessed what the work culture was like, I am very disappointed and wish that things could be better. 4) For a company that says they care about mental health, they don’t. I’ve seen one of my co-workers go through a very rough time in her life and unfortunately her performance wasn’t the best during this time and they had to call HR on her. She was very humiliated instead of supported. Doesn’t help that the Dining Room Manager added to the stress because she is a spiteful woman who has nothing better to do than snitch on people. I’m very disappointed at the facility I worked at, and to the management, you should be ashamed of yourselves, you’re not trustworthy, supportive, or even friendly. Be better.
