Pros
I worked with some really nice people throughout the years. Besides that, nothing at all. In the end, I’m sorry to say nothing at all. I have taken a long time to think about this and make sure that I express the truth to its fullest extent.
Cons
Too many to mention. Pretty awful experience after 4 and a half year experience at The Pittsburgh Shaner Marriott City Center. I’m still really in shock in how top management takes care of their managers suffering from PTSD, anxiety and panic disorder. Instead of speaking with me and maybe trying to understand an illness, they just throw you and your family away to the curb. I believe Shaner needs to hire a management team with education past only high school diplomas. That way, maybe their management team would be educated enough to at least understand the problems associated with mental illness. I really could have hit them hard with a lawsuit. I had even consulted attorneys before accepting their “Seperation Agreement” as I was literally discriminated against over something that I cannot control. In the end, our family just accepted their pathetic “Seperation Agreement” because of necessity of bills being paid as they barely pay their managers enough to support a family. It’s really a shame as Shaner picks these uneducated people as management simply so they can pay a lesser salary. These individuals know about hotels, how to say “yes sir and yes ma’am” and deal with customer complaints however have no idea how to actually MANAGE THEIR PEOPLE.
