Pros

Competitive benefits minus a pension plan

Cons

Little or no chance for advancement for women; women receive far below local market value wages; it is not unusual for female employees to be expected to work through lunch, come in to work early, and stay late - - unpaid. Positions that out to be salaried exempt are forced as hourly positions. The laundry list is long, and this is merely the tip of the iceberg. Employees are afraid to come forward due to the Stockholm Syndrome they experience in the workplace. Management is permitted to verbally abuse and bully employees on a regular basis. Taking the matter to HR within the company is tantamount to career suicide. The company has a mostly uneducated, untrained HR department that ignores all employee complaints unless OSHA or the state labor board. Someone's getting rich at this EMCOR company, and it's not the rank and file employees. This company reflects the corporate greed and lack of integrity that has become so common in our country. Walking into Shambaugh and its companies is liking taking a step back in time - - prior to labor laws. Prior to the Pay Equity laws of 1963.
