Mission-driven work and many dedicated direct-care staff. Some coworkers were deeply committed and carried a difficult system as best they could.
Cons
Within about 18 months after a leadership change, the Associate Director team went from 7 people to 1. Middle management was held responsible for outcomes without the authority or support needed to address them. Concerns about structural issues were often minimized, and leadership defaulted to blame rather than solutions. The role became more about absorbing problems for upper management than actually being empowered to lead.
