Pros

Talented engineers, industry standard pay, money for certifications but only when there is an immediate benefit for the company

Cons

Lack of integrity with both customers and employees. Very CYA, and blame is assigned to engineers for management mistakes. High turnover rate by very smart engineers who are tired of being micromanaged, overworked, and treated as disposable by incompetent executives, HR, and project managers. Don't just take my word for it, take a look at the negative reviews, everyone is saying the same things, yet HR refutes them each time. 90% of the positive reviews are fake and/or posted by current employees. Yet the company markets hard on its public image and "awards". Company is old school. Managers value engineers being at their desk 40+ hours and punching the clock over getting results, working less hours, working remotely etc. Vacation time is extremely frowned upon. Two types of managers exist, those who know nothing about how technology works, even on a very basic level, and the other are very senior engineers who know nothing about people skills, or how to work as a team. I would not recommend taking a job here. The upper management is so out of touch with technology it's truly amazing the company is still in business in 2019, but it's propped up by an incredible sales team. Definite concerns for the future of the company.

Pros

They are focused on security and are effiecient. Coworkers have worked their over a decade and I see hires get moved around to other positions.

Cons

I questioned the way coworkers got terminated and if what got told afterwards to coworkers was accurate.

Pros

* Fully remote work (with the very occasional local on-site support request). * Extremely intelligent / competent team willing to help and teach wherever you may need. * Flexible, understanding, kind management who just want to see you succeed. Not a lot of "micromanagement," more just agency and respect. * Free training provided through INE and compensation for Cisco Certificates. * Great benefits with full health/vision/dental/life insurance plans. * Moderately quality tools provided to complete work tasks.

Cons

* On-Call is not compensated outside of salary. * Salary is typically considered lower than other MSPs. * Salary increases are typically lower than other MSPs and do not happen annually. Without acquiring Cisco certs, a salary increase is difficult to obtain. * Vacation time is considered lower than other MSPs. * Extremely challenging work which will absolutely ensure burnout at various times throughout your career here. * Promotions come with a sub 5% pay increase, whereas they're typically closer to 10% in other companies. * Tools such as ticketing systems and credential management are lacking and need dedicated improvement. * Because of the emphasis on certifications, work life balance is very low. Studying for and obtaining various vendor certs is essentially a second job on-top of the daily heavy workload that comes in.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and experiences with Sentinel. We truly value thoughtful input like this, as it helps us continue to improve and provide the best possible work environment for our team. To clarify, moving between engineering levels (e.g., Level 2 to Level 3) is not considered a formal promotion. These levels serve as a way to categorize blocks of engineers with similar skill sets and responsibilities. More significant career advancements occur when moving into senior or advanced engineering roles, which are considered major leaps in responsibility, scope, and expectations. We also appreciate your thoughts regarding PTO and other suggestions for enhancing the employee experience. We regularly review feedback from our team to identify opportunities for improvement, and your insights will be part of those ongoing conversations. Thank you again for your contributions and dedication. We look forward to building on our successes together.
