Pros

* Excellent remote work flexibility * Had some supportive and capable teammates who genuinely tried to do quality work.

Cons

Confused Leadership & Lack of Expertise: The executive team often seemed disorganized and unsure of the strategic direction, leading to constantly changing priorities. Their decisions frequently revealed a lack of practical experience or knowledge in our core operations, which often made running the company feel chaotic. Worse, they frequently jumped into our team’s day-to-day work, which undercut team autonomy and made us feel micromanaged and untrusted. Recognition Was Political: The whole recognition and reward system felt like a joke. It seemed like praise was given based on loyalty and politics rather than actual effort or results. High performers were often ignored while others were consistently featured, regardless of their output. Safer to Stay Quiet: The culture was not welcoming to alternative ideas or concerns. When you spoke up, you were met with subtle pushback and defensiveness, making it professionally safer to keep your head down and avoid rocking the boat. Trust Issues & Lack of Transparency: It was really hard to trust leadership's motives. Some decisions they made to hit targets felt secretive, raising serious questions for me around fairness and transparency across the organization. Performance Reviews Were Random: The performance review and compensation process felt completely disconnected from actual accomplishments. You could deliver amazing results and still get an unfair evaluation or minimal raise. HR Protects Management: HR’s focus was clearly on protecting the company first. My offboarding experience, in particular, was disorganized and lacked basic communication or follow-through.

Pros

The technical challenges are interesting. You will have the opportunity to work on complex problems alongside some very talented people.

Cons

The primary source of toxicity is the CEO, who maintains control through public humiliation and aggressive "dressing downs." No one is safe from these outbursts, but he is particularly hostile toward women, frequently subjecting them to openly dismissive treatment that would be unacceptable in any professional setting. He uses technical meetings and public forums to belittle individuals, shouting down anyone who offers a different perspective or attempts to uphold professional standards. It is a culture of intimidation where "leadership" is synonymous with bullying. Because the CEO is so volatile, the management layer has devolved into a collection of "minions" focused entirely on survival and internal politics. There is no psychological safety, which has created a climate of surveillance where backstabbing is the primary way to gain "pull." Managers are more interested in disparaging their colleagues to stay in the CEO's good graces than they are in shipping quality products or supporting their teams.
