Pros

Health Insurance, Internet package. Remote

Cons

The merge between Sendwave and Zepz was thee worst thing to happen. The shifts have become unbearable as you get a day off after working more than 40 hrs and to resume another 40+ hrs after your off day. There is a witchhunt for Kenyan employees as most are getting let go off every week with no prior notice as per the agreement letter signed by every employee. There is no contract in this company hence you can not even defend yourself should things be done in an illegal manner. This merge has brought relentless stiff policies that include invasion of privacy, lack of respect, lack of recognition, zero support for the East african region and heavy impact on our mental health. Your feedback is NOT valued, usidanganywe, it is NOT! Especially after this merge. They refuse to solve the issues for late resolutions 3 years later as no one looks into it after the redundant statement of , "It will take time." Heck the supervisors dont even know the problems still exist today.

Pros

The mission to serve the Diaspora of Africa. People who truly care about the mission. Super smart technical staff. The ability to work remotely (company is 100% remote). Opportunity to travel domestically and internationally.

Cons

Leadership positions are held by people with little-to-no leadership experience. Ruthless prioritization every week, for years, has led many aspects of the company to be broken. There is not the appetite to fix problems with solutions that actually stick. The "people" of the company have not been prioritized -- on all levels -- corporate, customer support or operations (i.e. after nearly 5 years - no clear career paths, no raises, no bonuses, no ability of managers to incentivize teams or individuals with strong performance). The company takes a very knee-jerk or reactive approach to issues that arise from everyday run of business issues. While the culture promotes itself as 100% transparent and familial, all of the leadership positions are filled with friends of the founders. Often times it feels like an adult version of high school. The company does a poor job at promoting the family-like culture of it's remote workforce.

We appreciate your time working with us, and I regret that you didn’t enjoy your time working with us at Sendwave. We do have a strong team that’s excited to find ways to keep making sending money as easy as sending a text. Like many people looking to start a new business, our founders turned to their personal networks to hire the first employees. Since then, however, we have also brought in leadership from external sources and promoted people from within the company to help us in working towards our goal. In addition, we are working to build out our operational teams to appropriately support our newfound size and continued success in our mission, and keep learning.
