Pros

1. The domain is interesting. 2. Selfdecode product is doing good so far. 3. Remote work

Cons

1. Science editor who doesn't have any software knowledge is responsible for managing software developers. 2. Junior developers are assigned to manage senior developers. 3. No planning for software development. Science editor suggest what to do and all developers must agree even if it's illogical. 4. Code is very badly written and no one acknowledge it and wants to fix it. 5. No learning. Infact you might have to do operational work more than coding. 6. They try to micromanage and check Hubstaff for your activity and even if you open stackoverflow they ask why the website was opened for long time :D. 7. The job post says 50-70k dollars but they offer max 15-20$ per hour and then don't give enough work to do even 5 hours a day and they say it's full time.

We always appreciate feedback and want to constantly improve. It seems like this review was written by an employee who worked here over 2 years ago. Since then a lot has changed. We changed project managers and we also have an experienced lead developer who manages developers. We have much more planning in place now. Our developers often learn quite a lot and go on to get great jobs later. It is true that we don’t pay for training, but we do for on the job learning. Developers look at stackoverflow all the time and this isn’t an issue. We are against micromanagement. The only time we look at hubstaff is when the productivity of an employee is poor. This allows us to give constructive feedback and let the employee know how to improve. We pay developers based on a mix of factors, including experience, competence, position and other factors. We currently pay our developers anywhere between $40k-70k/yr or $20-$35/hr and there’s anything but a shortage of work. This being said, there is always room for improvement, and we hope to keep improving with time.

Pros

SelfHacked is a dynamic and growing company with a lot of potential for career advancement in an exciting and progressive industry. If you're interested in health/medicine/science, then you'll be immersed in learning a wide variety of topics alongside some very intelligent people in the field. The team is highly educated and is moving fast to make SelfHacked the top health website on the Internet. Also, the flexibility in working hours and the option of remote work makes the whole deal very attractive for qualified applicants.

Cons

The initial writing deadline of 2 weeks was a bit tight, given the demands of SelfHacked's writing requirements. This has recently been extended to 4 weeks since I've started, which makes a big difference. So this is no longer a Con, really. One month should be enough time for even part-time writers to produce quality work for the site.
