Pros

The actual job isn't terrible. The work is relatively easy-going. Most sites are massive in size and volume of customers, which can be stressful if you're managing a location by yourself. District managers, trainers, and captains, seem genuine and understanding.

Cons

Ownership and upper management seem to view their on site staff as a burden, or are genuinely disinterested in maintaining them. There is seemingly no trust for on site managers from primary decision makers within the company. Manager in title only, little to no ability to actually manage your facility. Need approval from district managers for literally anything to be accomplished. Ordering supplies, tools, basic office items, and whatever you may need to fix issues on property need approval. District managers appear to be overworked and tasked with majority of decision making. Company appears to be gearing up for sale to a competitor. Massively cutting hours and staff at numerous locations. Promised full-time hours at hire, never recieved 40 hours of work in a scheduel. Reprimanded for ANY overtime worked. Staffing shortages, underpaid staff, and micromanaging from upper management. Continued delays on maintenance for numerous locations. No open line of communication between staff on location and upper management. Upper management misleads, or knowingly lies to staff about future plans for the company. No room for growth, all upper management appears to be hired externally. This company has offered me repeated disappointments at every opportunity.

Pros

I have heard that other departments have Pros. But not in the operations department.

Cons

The CEO of Operations will talk to you like you are a child blames everyone else when they doesn't give you any directive. Always answers your question with a question so they can blame you no accountability from leadership. Don't just take it from me as around self storage anyone who has worked here will say this one person is the reason they left. Many of DMs have quit in my short time at this place it is a revolving door. The culture is nonexsistent just a bunch of backstabbing and throwing you under the bus by c level leadership to kiss up to owner. They will tell you they are weeding out the weak talent but really they just blame the little people for failures and leadership is never held accountable. You feel like tyou are on an island 90% of the time. The only goal is to do everything for nothing so the owners can get rich. Do not expect a bonus or raise ever. Lots of nepotism at the leadrship level.
