Pros
This was my first experience within the insurance field and Select Quote helped me get licensed and trained me on the entire world of Medicare Insurance. I was a Medicare sales agent for roughly a year and it was honestly the easiest sales job I’ve had. If you come into this job not expecting to close everyone and that you actually have to use your sales skills than you’ll do great! The clients aren’t necessarily calling Select Quote to shop insurance, but instead responded to one of the marketing campaigns and then transferred to Select Quote. Even an average sales agent is making 80-90k a year. Top 30% are well over 150k. It Truly is what you make of it.
A job where you’re working from home making 100k and you are truly helping people navigate the complexity of Medicare. Can’t beat it. When reading some of the reviews I would assume some folks got the wrong impression of the job and thought it would be more of a customer service gig where you just shop insurance plans versus a sales job. Give it a try and don’t give up too early. You only get better as you go and you get extensive training. You are truly never alone.
Career growth- Almost everyone within our Medicare dept started out as a Medicare sales agent, so they are all knowledgeable about the industry. Almost all sales managers, senior Managers, Directors, and even VPs were all on the phones selling at one point.
Cons
Not really a con cause it’s expected but the hours during AEP.
