Pros

The client assigned to me was nice and so were the strategists that I worked with.

Cons

I do not enjoy leaving negative reviews but I feel that this is a serious issue and would not want others to go through what I have. Getting paid is like pulling teeth. Not once was I paid on time and it took a lot of time and hassle to receive my payment, especially my very last one. I began working as a contractor with SelectFew in January of this year. The vast majority of the time, I had to chase payment, often with no responses and when my emails were responded to, there were myriad of excuses each time. Payment was regularly extremely late. The only way to get the attention of the CEO was to threaten to contact the client. Then a response would come in and things would get moving but even then it was still a difficult feat to get paid. Excuses varied from the client being slow to pay, to international banking shutdowns and more. Two times I was told payment was on the way and received confirmation of such in the payment platform (Bill, com), only to have my payment Voided, resulting in no payment and having to chase down the payment again. Many times, I received half-hazard apologies and guarantees that the payment would be made on a specific date - that date would come and go, and the only way to get paid was to give ultimatums. I have nearly 50 email exchanges with the CEO as I tried each month to collect the money that was VERY overdue to me. As my contract ended this month, collecting was harder than ever. After multiple exchanges with the CEO, I finally received confirmation that the payment was sent but then on the day I was to receive my money, it was Voided. When I contacted the payment processing platform (Bill.com), I was told that it was a problem appeared to be with SelectFew’s account and “the funding for this transaction failed” I ended up having to cc my lawyer on an email to the CEO and again, threatened to contact the client, which they absolutely do not want and tend to react to. I finally received my last payment nearly a month late and only after playing hardball, otherwise, I question whether I would actually ever see that payment. There is a major lack of transparency and there appears to be some sort of cash flow issue since clearly I am not the only contractor having this problem. If you want to be paid without fighting each month for what is due to you, then I strongly advise not working with SelectFew. If the company is to survive, it clearly needs to adjust its business model and put into place proper accounting practices.

Pros

I cant give one positive review about this company outside of Alyssa being really nice.

Cons

They don’t pay on time. I understand net 30 but we are talking about 45 to 50 days later after the 30 days of free labor you do. You can try to set real expectations with clients and they want you to go above and beyond. Zach the founder of the company literally told me he won’t pay me because I had a poor performance with one of their clients that I had worked with for 5 months. Zach that makes no sense because I’ve been getting paid late for the last 4 months and the client loved my performance. Also if I’m not mistaken it’s illegal to not pay someone for work they’ve already completed because you didn’t like their performance. I mean nobody should work with these people. Incredibly shady.
