Pros

- Great office spaces and locations in different cities (all are a bit unique and have their own flair) - For the most part, employees are hard working, talented, and pleasant to work with - Not corporate at all so there's a nice laid back vibe - Half days on Fridays between Memorial Day and Labor Day are a huge plus and you get a solid amount of vacation, personal, and sick days - Most people actually take a proper lunch break and eat in the kitchen which is not typically the case at other agencies where everyone eats at their desks while working - Generally, hard-working employees are recognized with a raise/promotion - Caliber of clients tends to be strong

Cons

- Because of the casual work environment, people can be unprofessional... this is not the case for everyone, but there are some strong personalities (including amongst management) so you need to be okay with dealing with that - Promotions/raises will be on freeze if there's a lack of client work overall which can be really unfair if your client work is going well and you have been told you will get a promotion/raise - There's a sink or swim mentality and little training so this is not a good place for people who aren't comfortable learning as they go

Pros

SelectNY has a successful record of attracting big name clients with solid brand equity and sex appeal. This is an especially potent draw for print-focused creatives looking to build their books.

Cons

There is a significant lack of mentorship, development, and training. The company habitually hires people to then let them sit unguided until they either leave or get laid off. Too often, employees are made to fill roles and take on responsibilities unfit for their titles or levels of experience. If you're a creative, prepare yourself for long nights of working and reworking mock-ups that will ultimately get canned (or worse, stolen) in the end. If you're account, you'll just be another person to set up meetings. If you're an assistant to one of the senior management ... run. Despite all of the talk of "Family" the senior leadership at this company has established a very toxic atmosphere that sets a very nasty tone. If you're not one of them (aka the cool kids / the mean girls / "the plastics") you can bet on systematic abuse and misuse. You will be insulted, taken advantage of, and consistently thrown under the bus.
