Pros

They have some really great people working there, and I enjoyed collaborating across departments at the lower levels. The vacation/sick leave was good and the 401(K) match was nice. The corporate company is very stable in the market and owns a good portion of the 2D and 3D surveys in the US. For a while we had individual processing companies that had their own working environments, and I had liked that.

Cons

Upper management doesn't understand the technical aspects of seismic data processing. They are a seismic sales and brokerage company and have their focus on marketing of data, not processing it. The four individual processing centers were recently merged, and there has been no move to make a clear picture of the new company nor to integrate all the remaining employees together as a cohesive unit.

Pros

You can make your career your own. If you apply yourself and go above and beyond, management will notice and give you more responsibilities. Management is hands on and listens to the employee's needs and personal goals. The company is family oriented, the employees are all nice, and the Houston office building is top of the line. I owe a lot of my knowledge and well rounded career to SEI and the opportunities that they gave me.

Cons

The industry, due to its relation to oil and gas, has its ups and downs.
