Pros
You might meet one or two nice people (who also secretly want to leave this job). If you thrive on competitiveness and a sense of distrust with your fellow employees, this may be the place for you.
Cons
I would give 0 stars if I could. This is a job, not a career. There is no room to move up and you can forget about a raise. If you need to feel a sense of autonomy, this is not the environment for you. Management had a bullying and threatening demeanour. There was never a sense of safety that you could openly speak about concerns. There was extreme low morale and all that came with that: people living in distrust of one another, everyone watching their back. This is a family run business, but before you get the warm fuzzies, how comfortable would you feel having the boss's son as HR if you had a complaint against management? We were told to take the time to work with care (we were QA after all) but then were told we were too slow and not releasing enough reports. This was consistent and it felt very much like gaslighting. We could never create reports we were proud of because there was always something wrong with them and we were always too slow. By the end, I felt like I was living in a dystopian nightmare. I count this as the worst job I've ever had. I've had some fabulous jobs that I was happy to wake up to every day so I know the difference between being a valued & proud employee, and a bullied cog in the wheel who could be tossed away at any moment. My advice: Run! You are worth it! There are employees and businesses out there who care about their employees and environments that are enjoyable to work in. You don't need to settle for a horrible workplace environment.
