Pros
It's a job, standard benefits. In Oregon they have unions at some sites that require union dues to stay on that site permanently. The unions do offer benefits compared to what the parent company have in the context of healthcare costs. Portland is the most bike friendly city in America, which is good considering the Con's listed below.
Cons
They don't lead the market in terms of pay rates. I put in a transfer to move from San Jose Ca. to Portland Or. They didn't even tell me what I was going to be paid until after I was already getting certified for the area and had signed a lease. Suffice to say it was a drastic pay cut that caused me to lose my car to keep up with rent. Paychecks are bi-weekly, and that's a con for anyone who knows the better option of being paid every week. Some sites require union membership and with that union dues so given the average pay scale that paycheck is reduced even further.
