Pros

Dedicated staff and executive management; every member of the team is pivotal; leadership not only listens to staff input, but is responsive to it; company places an emphasis on team building and giving back to the community; environment is very COVID-safe, as most employees have their own office space and masks are required/worn at all times in communal spaces

Cons

I have been with Securance for eight months and look forward to coming to work every day.

Pros

The company offers a shorter work week, with half days on Friday paid for by the company. Because it is a small company, employees are generally known by name rather than feeling like just another number.

Cons

The turnover was extremely high during my tenure. In less than 18 months, the company went through five HR managers. Turnover among consultants and proposal staff was also exceptionally high. The company's direction seemed to change weekly, often without clear explanation or a defined strategy. Processes, priorities, and expectations frequently shifted, making it difficult for employees to keep up and successfully execute their responsibilities. The constant changes created confusion and inefficiencies across multiple departments. Communication and management practices were also a concern. Employees were sometimes criticized in front of colleagues rather than receiving constructive feedback in a private setting. This approach often left staff feeling discouraged and undervalued instead of supported and coached toward improvement. One of the most concerning aspects of the culture was the lack of communication surrounding terminations. Employees were often let go without prior warning, performance improvement plans, written coaching, or advance notice. In some cases, it appeared that replacements had already been hired before the incumbent employee was informed their position was ending. This created a climate of uncertainty and negatively impacted morale and trust within the organization.
